Session Title: "Towards more inclusive Information Society:
Perspectives from the Asia and Pacific"
Abstract
This panel examines the critical challenges NGO and civil society
actors in the Asia and Pacific region are facing in relation to the
rapid diffusion of ICT on the one hand, and the lack or insufficient
penetration of infrastructure and other resources to fully enjoy its
benefits. Key stakeholders from NGO and civil society are represented
by inviting speakers from the thematic Side Events preceding the Main
conference: Gender, Youth, Pacific Islands, ICT for Development,
Communications rights, and Defining Information Society.
Panelists will be asked to help find common path to build a more
inclusive Information Society in the Asia Pacific context.
Discussants from government and private sector have been invited to
enable a constructive multi-stakeholder dialogue.
